Fair Dates: Sept 30 - October 4, 2008

Welcome to the 2008 Agriculture and Youth Fair held in conjunction with the Washington County Kaolin Festival.

The fair has been a joint effort of the Washington County Farm Bureau and Washington County Extension Service, plus the help of many individuals and organizations.

Thanks to the committees, clubs, associations, exhibitors, vendors, sponsors, premium book advertisers, news media, schools, volunteers, and everyone else that had a part in putting the fair together.

Our objective is to have a fair that is educational, recreational, informative, a remembrance of our past, a look at our future, promote agriculture, inspire our youth, promote Washington County, and improve our lives.

We try to do this with our exhibits, vendors, demonstrations, special attractions, food, and Midway.

We welcome you and your family to the fair.

General Information
The Washington County Agricultural and Youth Fair will begin on Tuesday, September, 30, 2008 and continue through Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the Washington County Farm Bureau Agricultural Center located at 882 Grady Mertz Road in Tennille, Georgia. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, 4:00 p.m. Saturday.

AgGeorgia Farm Credit Staff - Gate Ticket Sales 8:30 a.m.-12:00 noon- Kindergarten students, Headstart and Play-schools are invited to visit exhibit area at the fair. Also see animal exhibits. The Petting Zoo will be open. Goose the clown will entertain.

2008/2009
Washington County Agricultural & Youth Fair BIG BUCK CONTEST

The Washington County Agricultural and Youth Fair is again sponsoring a big buck contest The contest will run from September 8, 2008 (opening day of archery season) through January 15, 2009 (end of gun season). Tile racks will be scored at the 2009 Washington County Agricultural and Youth Fair using the Boone and Crockett system.

Prizes will be:
First Place: Shoulder mount of the winning deer ($300.00 value)

Second Place: Digital Trail Camera

Third Place: Twelve foot ladder stand With swivel seat

No pre-registration is

Deer to be entered must be brought by:
*Segars Sports- A Hunting and tic king Store located at 2956 Highway 68 North in Sandersville 478-552-1486

Pictures must be taken of the buck at the registration site!

Contest rules are:

I. The buck must be harvested in Washington County during the current (2008/2009) deer season.

2. The buck must be intact, it may be field dressed but the head/antlers niust still be attached to the whole body when it is taken to the official registration site.

3. Racks must be scored and displayed during the 2009

Washington County Agricultural & Youth Fair (October, 2009) to be eligible for prizes.

4.Only eight point racks or larger may be entered.

SAIl racks exhibited will be recognized in some manner.

6. Pictures must be taken at official registration site.

These individuals have qualified to enter the 2007/2008 Washington County Agricultural and Youth Fair
Big Buck Contest with bucks they harvested in Washington County during the (2007/2008) deer season. They must bring their deer racks to the Washington County Farm Bureau Agricultural Center (site of the County Fair) located at 882 Grady Mertz Road just southeast of Tennille between 2:00 p.m. and 4:Q0 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2008
The Big Buck Contest entries will be on display during the fair. Big Buck Contest Qualifiers who exhibit their deer racks during the fair will be allowed to participate in the Shooting Contest to win their choice of a new shotgun or a new rifle. The Shooting Contest will be held at the Fair at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2008.

TURKEY CONTEST QUALIFIERS

These individuals have qualified to enter the 2008 Washington County Agricultural and Youth Fair Turkey Contest with gobblers they harvested in Washington County during the 2008 season. They must bring their gobbler’s beard (or displays with the beard and spurs or tail feathers) to the Washington County Farm Bureau Agricultural Center (site of the County Fair) located at 882 Grady Mertz Road just southeast of Tennille between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. September 28, 2008.

The contest qualifiers who exhibit their gobbler’s beard during the fair will be allowed to participate in the Shooting Contest to win their choice of a new shotgun or a new rifle. The Shooting Contest will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October2, 2008.
